Chapter 6: Understanding God’s Original Design for Wealth
“Good to see you again, Jim,” Pastor Charles greeted warmly, his eyes twinkling with genuine pleasure. “How have you been?”
“Hey, Pastor Charles! I’ve been doing well, thanks,” Jim replied with a broad smile that reached his eyes. “I’ve really been looking forward to our chat today. It’s been a week full of ups and downs, but I’m eager to gain some new insights.”
“Likewise, Jim. Our meetings have been quite enlightening,” Pastor Charles said, gesturing for Jim to take a seat in the comfortable armchair across from his desk. “I’m glad to hear you’re doing well despite the challenges. Today, I want to delve into something crucial—God’s original design for wealth. It’s a topic that I believe will resonate with your current situation.”
“That sounds interesting,” Jim responded, leaning forward in his chair, his curiosity piqued. “What exactly do you mean by ‘original design’? Is this something from the Bible?”
“Great question,” Pastor Charles continued, his voice filled with enthusiasm. “When I say, ‘original design,’ I mean how God intended wealth to be used and viewed from the very beginning of creation, according to the Bible. It’s a concept that’s deeply rooted in Scripture and has profound implications for how we approach money and abundance in our lives today.”
“Oh, I see. So, what does the Bible say about it?” Jim asked, eager to learn more. He pulled out a small notebook from his pocket, ready to jot down any important points.
“Let’s start at the beginning, in the Garden of Eden,” Pastor Charles explained, his eyes lighting up as he delved into the topic. “God created a world full of abundance and provided Adam and Eve with everything they needed. This shows that God’s design included plenty and provision from the very start.”
Pastor Charles reached for his expensive looking leather Bible on the desk, flipping it open to the book of Genesis. “Let me read you something from Genesis 1:28-29,” he said, clearing his throat. “‘And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.'”
Jim listened intently; his pen poised over the notebook. “So, you’re saying that God wants us to have enough? That He provided abundantly from the very beginning?”
“Exactly!” Pastor Charles exclaimed, his face beaming. “God wants us to live in abundance, but not just for our own benefit. He wants us to use our resources to help others and further His kingdom. From the very start, God blessed Adam and Eve with abundance and gave them dominion over the earth. This wasn’t just about having enough; it was about having plenty to manage and share.”
Jim pondered this for a moment, tapping his pen against his chin. “That sounds nice, but how does that work in real life? I mean, we’re not in the Garden of Eden anymore.”
“Think of it this way,” Pastor Charles said, leaning forward in his chair. “God blesses us with wealth so we can take care of our needs, but also so we can be a blessing to others. It’s like a cycle of giving and receiving. This principle didn’t end with Adam and Eve. We see it throughout the Bible, especially in the lives of figures like Noah and Abraham.”
“Can you tell me more about that?” Jim asked, his interest growing. “How did God bless Noah and Abraham?”
Pastor Charles nodded eagerly. “Certainly! Let’s look at Noah first. After the flood, God blessed Noah and his sons, saying in Genesis 9:1-3, ‘And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.'”
Jim’s eyebrows raised in surprise. “Wow, that’s quite a blessing!”
“Indeed it is,” Pastor Charles agreed. “God not only preserved Noah and his family through the flood but also gave them dominion over all living things and provided for their needs abundantly. This shows that God’s plan for abundance continued even after sin entered the world.”
“What about Abraham?” Jim prompted, scribbling notes furiously.
“Ah, Abraham is a prime example of how God blesses with wealth,” Pastor Charles said, flipping through his Bible. “In Genesis 13:2, it says, ‘And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.’ Later, in Genesis 24:1, we read, ‘And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.'”
Jim’s eyes widened. “So Abraham was actually wealthy? I never realized that.”
“Yes, he was,” Pastor Charles confirmed. “Abraham was blessed with material wealth, but more importantly, he was blessed in all things. This included not just material possessions, but also spiritual blessings, influence, and a legacy that continues to this day.”
“That’s fascinating,” Jim mused.
“That’s really helpful, Pastor,” Jim said, his voice filled with gratitude. “But how can we know if we’re using our wealth the way God wants us to? I mean, it’s one thing to know about Abraham and Noah, but how does that apply to us today?”
“Good question, Jim,” Pastor Charles responded, leaning back in his chair thoughtfully. “Prayer and reading the Bible can guide us. Also, consider if you’re being generous, helping others, and using your resources to make a positive difference. If you are, you’re likely on the right track.”
Pastor Charles paused for a moment, then continued, “Let’s look at some practical examples from the Bible. In Deuteronomy 8:18, Moses reminds the Israelites, ‘But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.’ This verse shows us that God gives us the ability to create wealth, but for a purpose – to establish His covenant.”
Jim nodded, scribbling in his notebook. “So it’s not just about having money, but about using it for God’s purposes?”
“Exactly,” Pastor Charles affirmed. “And we see this principle in action throughout the Bible. Take Joseph, for example. God blessed him with the ability to interpret dreams and with wisdom in managing resources. This led to him becoming second-in-command in Egypt and saving not only Egypt but also his own family from famine.”
“I remember that story,” Jim said, his eyes lighting up with recognition. “Joseph stored up grain during the seven years of plenty to prepare for the seven years of famine, right?”
“That’s right,” Pastor Charles smiled. “Joseph’s wise stewardship of resources saved countless lives. This is a perfect example of how God’s blessings of wealth and wisdom can be used for the greater good.”
Jim sat back in his chair, looking thoughtful. “This makes a lot more sense now. Thanks for explaining it in such a simple way,” he said, feeling more confident. “I never realized how much the Bible actually says about wealth and abundance.”
“You’re welcome, Jim,” Pastor Charles smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Remember, wealth is a tool given by God. Use it wisely, and you’ll be fulfilling His original design for it. The key is to view wealth as a responsibility and an opportunity to bless others, rather than as an end in itself.”
Jim nodded, then asked, “How does knowing these things about God’s original intentions help me right now in terms of making money? I mean, it’s great to know about Abraham and Joseph, but how does that apply to my life today?”
“Great question,” Pastor Charles responded, leaning forward in his chair. “You see, Jim, understanding God’s original design helps you realize that wealth isn’t something to be feared or misused. In our previous meetings, we talked about how wrong concepts or ideas about money can lead to self-sabotage. When you believe money is evil or feel guilty about having it, you might unconsciously push opportunities away.”
Jim nodded, starting to see the connection. “So, by understanding that God sees wealth as a blessing, I can be more open to opportunities?”
“Exactly,” Pastor Charles confirmed. “By renewing your mind with the right understanding—that wealth is a blessing meant to be used for good—you open yourself up to more opportunities. You start making decisions that align with God’s purpose for your life and wealth. It’s about shifting from a scarcity mindset to one of abundance and responsibility.”
“So, I need more positive programming about making money and wealth?” Jim asked, his pen poised over his notebook.
“Exactly, Jim,” Pastor Charles agreed, his voice filled with enthusiasm. “You need to fill your mind with the right type of input. Seek God’s guidance through prayer, study what the Bible says about wealth, and surround yourself with positive influences that reinforce these truths. As your mind gets renewed, you’ll begin to see more success in making money and using it in a way that honors God.”
Pastor Charles paused for a moment, then continued, “Let me give you another example from the Bible. In 1 Chronicles 29:12, King David prays, ‘Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.’ This prayer acknowledges that all wealth and honor come from God, and He has the power to make people great and give them strength.”
Jim’s eyes widened with understanding. “So, by recognizing that wealth comes from God, we can approach it with the right attitude?”
“Precisely,” Pastor Charles nodded. “When we understand that wealth is a gift from God, we’re more likely to use it wisely and for His purposes. This mindset can also help us overcome fear and anxiety about money, knowing that our provider is the Creator of the universe.”
“That’s really powerful,” Jim said, his voice filled with awe. “It’s like a whole new way of looking at money and success.”
“Indeed it is,” Pastor Charles agreed. “And it’s important to remember that this abundance isn’t just about material wealth. In Ephesians 3:20, Paul writes, ‘Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.’ This verse reminds us that God’s abundance goes beyond our imagination and includes spiritual blessings as well.”
Jim sat quietly for a moment, processing all he had learned. Then he looked up at Pastor Charles, a new light in his eyes. “I got it and thanks again, Pastor Charles!” he replied, his voice filled with gratitude. “This has really opened my eyes to a new way of thinking about wealth and success.”
Pastor Charles smiled warmly. “I’m glad this has been helpful, Jim. Remember, it’s a journey. Keep studying, praying, and seeking God’s wisdom in how to handle the blessings He gives you.”
Jim nodded, then suggested, “Hey, Pastor Charles, how about next time we meet for coffee at the Starbucks on Grand Ave? I’d love to get to know you better and hear more about your life and accomplishments.”
“That sounds wonderful, Jim,” Pastor Charles replied, his face lighting up. “I’d be delighted to continue our conversation in a more casual setting. Perhaps we can discuss how these principles have played out in my own life and ministry.”
As they stood to conclude their meeting, Pastor Charles placed a hand on Jim’s shoulder. “Remember, Jim, God’s original design for wealth was and is abundance, not just for our own benefit, but so we can be a blessing to others and to establish His covenant. As you go about your week, look for opportunities to both receive and give blessings. You might be surprised at how God works through you when you’re open to His abundance.”
Jim nodded, feeling a new sense of purpose and understanding. As he left the pastor’s office, he felt equipped with a fresh perspective on wealth and success, one that aligned with God’s original design. He couldn’t wait to put these principles into practice and see how they would transform his life and the lives of those around him.
Pastor Charles smiled warmly, “That sounds like a great idea, Jim. I’d be delighted to continue our conversation over coffee. Let’s do it.”
With that, Jim felt a renewed sense of purpose and looked forward to their next meeting. It was an opportunity not just to learn but to build a meaningful connection with someone he admired and respected. As they parted ways, Jim’s mind wandered to the biblical examples they had discussed. He thought about how God had blessed Adam and Eve with abundance in the Garden of Eden, how Noah was given dominion over all living things after the flood, and how Abraham was “very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold” (Genesis 13:2). These stories reinforced the idea that God’s original plan included wealth and abundance as blessings to be used wisely and shared generously. Jim felt inspired to align his own financial goals with this divine perspective.
Chapter 7:
Unveiling the Past
A Heartfelt Conversation
Pastor Charles’s Journey: A Tale of Faith, Service, and Prosperity
Jim Delaney had been absorbing Pastor Charles’s wisdom for weeks, yet he realized he knew little about the pastor’s own life story. Today, that would change. They had set up a meeting at a cozy Starbucks on Grand Ave in New Jersey, NY, a place known for its warm atmosphere and friendly staff.
As Jim stepped into the bustling café, the rich scent of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, mixing with the soft murmur of conversations. He quickly spotted Pastor Charles at a corner table, his face brightening with a welcoming smile. Jim made his way over and settled into the chair across from him.
“It’s great to see you, Jim,” Pastor Charles greeted warmly. “How have you been doing?”
Jim returned the smile, feeling at ease in the pastor’s presence. “I’ve been doing well, Pastor. Thanks to your guidance, I’m starting to see things more clearly. But there’s something I’ve been wanting to ask you.”
Pastor Charles leaned forward, his interest piqued. “Go ahead, I’m listening.”
Jim took a deep breath, organizing his thoughts. “I’ve learned so much from you, but I realize I don’t know much about your own journey. How did you become the man you are today?”
Pastor Charles sat back, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. “That’s an excellent question, Jim. My journey wasn’t an easy one, and I faced many challenges along the way.”
He took a sip of his coffee before continuing. “I grew up in a small town in Georgia. We didn’t have much money, but we had an abundance of faith. My parents taught me the value of hard work and trusting in God’s plan. Those lessons stuck with me throughout my life.”
Jim nodded, encouraging the pastor to continue.
“After high school, my life took an unexpected turn,” Pastor Charles said. “I was drafted into the U.S. Army. At first, I was unsure about this path, but it turned out to be a crucial part of my journey.”
“What did you do in the Army?” Jim asked, intrigued.
“I spent four years in Army Intelligence,” Pastor Charles explained. “It was an eye-opening experience. I learned so much about human behavior – how people think, what drives them to act and think in certain ways. I also honed my skills in communication and relationship-building. These skills would prove invaluable later in my life.”
Jim leaned in, captivated by the pastor’s story.
“But it wasn’t all smooth sailing,” Pastor Charles continued, his voice taking on a more serious tone. “In 1968, during a mission in Vietnam, I had a life-changing experience. Our helicopter crashed, and I came face-to-face with death.”
Jim’s eyes widened. “That must have been terrifying.”
Pastor Charles nodded solemnly. “It was. But in that moment, something extraordinary happened. As I hovered between life and death, I was given a glimpse of my future. It was like a divine revelation, showing me how to prosper and succeed in business and life.”
“Wow,” Jim breathed. “That’s incredible.”
“Indeed, it was,” Pastor Charles agreed. “After I got out of the Army, I spent the next 25 years putting into practice what God had shown me. I started a successful career in sales, using the skills I had developed in Army Intelligence. I learned to read people, to understand their needs and desires. This allowed me to excel in my field.”
Jim listened intently, fascinated by the pastor’s journey.
“But I didn’t stop there,” Pastor Charles continued. “I began to buy, develop, and sell businesses. Over time, I created a substantial fortune for myself and my family. From the outside, it looked like I had it all – success, wealth, security.”
“But something was missing?” Jim guessed.
Pastor Charles smiled, impressed by Jim’s perception. “Exactly. Despite all my success, I felt unfulfilled. I had achieved financial prosperity, but my soul was yearning for something more.”
He paused, taking another sip of his coffee. “That’s when God showed me my true calling. He made me realize that the gifts He had given me – the ability to prosper, to understand people, to communicate effectively – weren’t just for my own benefit. They were meant to be used in His ministry.”
Jim nodded, beginning to understand. “So that’s when you became a pastor?”
“That’s right,” Pastor Charles confirmed. “God called me to spread the good news about Jesus, to help people find salvation, and to teach Christians how to prosper in life and business through biblical principles. It was a complete shift from my previous life, but it felt right. It felt like I was finally fulfilling my true purpose.”
“And how long have you been doing this?” Jim asked.
“For the last 30 years,” Pastor Charles replied, his eyes shining with passion. “And let me tell you, Jim, these have been the most fulfilling years of my life. Using my experiences and the lessons God has taught me, I’ve been able to help countless people find their way to faith and prosperity.”
Jim sat back, amazed by the pastor’s story. “That’s incredible, Pastor Charles. Your journey is truly inspiring.”
Pastor Charles smiled warmly. “Thank you, Jim. But remember, everyone’s journey is unique. God has a plan for each of us. The key is to listen to His guidance and be willing to follow where He leads, even if it takes you down unexpected paths.”
As they finished their coffee, Jim felt a renewed sense of admiration for Pastor Charles. The pastor’s life story was a testament to the power of faith, perseverance, and the willingness to answer God’s call.
“Thank you for sharing your story with me, Pastor,” Jim said sincerely. “It’s given me a lot to think about.”
Pastor Charles reached across the table and patted Jim’s hand. “That’s what I’m here for, Jim. To share, to guide, and to help you find your own path to prosperity – both spiritual and material. Remember, with faith and hard work, all things are possible.”
Jim’s Motivations and Goals
Pastor Charles leaned in, his voice gentle but probing. “What is it about making money that appeals to you, Jim? What do you hope to achieve from financial abundance?”
Jim’s eyes lit up as he spoke. “I want to do great things, Pastor. I want to take care of my family; ensure they never have to struggle like I did. I’ve always wanted to be successful, to prove to myself and others that I can make it. Financial stability means security, freedom, and the ability to help others.”
Pastor Charles listened intently, then said, “Those are all fine qualities and good intentions and I don’t see any problems with any of that, certainly none of those reasons would be holding you back. It sounds like freedom is something that’s important to you.”
“That’s right,” said Jim. “Well, it means that I don’t have to worry about not having enough anymore. It sounds like not having enough is something that has been troubling you.” Jim’s expression turned somber. “Yes, I guess I’ve always been concerned about that. Growing up, my family didn’t have much, and that fear of not having enough has followed me into adulthood. It’s like a shadow I can’t shake off.”
A Teaching Moment
Pastor Charles nodded thoughtfully, seeing the root of Jim’s struggles. “Jim, it’s important to recognize that mindset. I believe this is the main reason for your money block – this fear of not having enough can be a powerful barrier, but it doesn’t have to define your future. We just need to shift your perspective from scarcity to abundance. You need to simply believe that there is enough for you, that you can achieve your goals without fear.”
Jim looked at Pastor Charles, a glimmer of hope in his eyes. “You’re right, Pastor. I’ve been so focused on what I lack that I’ve forgotten to see the possibilities.”
“Exactly, Jim. Embrace faith, trust in God’s provision, and focus on the value you can create. When you shift your mindset, you open doors to new opportunities and greater success.”
Conclusion
As Jim absorbed Pastor Charles’ words, he felt a weight lifting from his shoulders. The pastor’s insights had struck a chord, revealing the deep-seated fears that had been holding him back. Jim realized that his desire for financial success wasn’t just about the money itself, but about overcoming the scarcity mindset that had plagued him for so long.
“Pastor,” Jim began, his voice filled with a new sense of purpose, “I think I understand now. It’s not just about making money, is it? It’s about believing in abundance and trusting that there’s enough for everyone, including me.”
Pastor Charles smiled warmly, pleased to see Jim’s growing awareness. “That’s exactly right, Jim. When we approach life with an abundance mindset, we open ourselves up to God’s blessings and the opportunities He provides. It’s about having faith not just in His provision, but in the gifts and talents He’s given you.”
Jim nodded, his mind racing with new possibilities. “So, how do I start making this shift? It feels like such a big change.”
“It starts with small steps,” Pastor Charles explained. “Each day, try to notice the abundance around you – the air you breathe, the food on your table, the love of your family. These are all signs of God’s provision. Then, look for ways to use your talents to create value for others. When we focus on giving and serving, we often find that our own needs are met in unexpected ways.”
As they continued their conversation, Jim began to see how his fear of not having enough had influenced many of his decisions. He’d been hesitant to take risks, always playing it safe, afraid of losing what little he had. But now, he saw how this fear had actually been limiting his potential for growth and success.
“I’ve been so focused on avoiding failure,” Jim admitted, “that I haven’t given myself the chance to truly succeed. I’ve been holding myself back.”
Pastor Charles nodded in agreement. “That’s a common trap, Jim. But remember, even failure can be a stepping stone to success if we learn from it. The Bible is full of stories of people who faced setbacks but ultimately triumphed through faith and perseverance.”
Jim felt a surge of excitement as he considered this new perspective. “So, it’s not just about making money, but about using my God-given talents to create value and serve others?”
“Exactly,” Pastor Charles affirmed. “When we align our goals with God’s purpose for our lives, we often find that financial abundance follows naturally. It’s not about chasing money for its own sake, but about being good stewards of the resources and abilities God has given us.”
As their meeting drew to a close, Jim felt a renewed sense of purpose and direction. He realized that his journey towards financial success was intertwined with his spiritual growth and his ability to trust in God’s provision.
“Thank you, Pastor,” Jim said sincerely. “I feel like I have a new roadmap now. It’s not just about changing my actions, but about transforming my entire mindset.”
Pastor Charles stood up, placing a supportive hand on Jim’s shoulder. “Remember, Jim, this is a journey. There will be challenges along the way, but keep your faith strong and your focus on God’s abundance. And don’t hesitate to reach out if you need guidance or support.”
As Jim left the pastor’s office, he felt lighter, more hopeful. He knew that changing his deeply ingrained scarcity mindset wouldn’t happen overnight, but he was committed to the process. He resolved to start each day with gratitude, to look for opportunities to serve others, and to trust in God’s provision.
Jim’s goals hadn’t changed – he still wanted financial success and the ability to provide for his family. But now, these goals were grounded in a deeper understanding of abundance and faith. He realized that true wealth wasn’t just about money in the bank, but about living a life aligned with God’s purpose, using his talents to their fullest potential, and trusting in the abundance of God’s creation.
As he walked to his car, Jim felt a new sense of possibility. The future, which had once seemed limited by his fears, now stretched out before him, full of potential. With his new perspective on abundance and his renewed faith, Jim was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, confident in God’s provision and his own ability to create value in the world.
As they finished their coffee, Jim felt a renewed sense of purpose. The conversation had deepened his understanding of Pastor Charles and reinforced his commitment to personal growth. Walking out of the Starbucks, Jim looked up at the clear blue sky, feeling a sense of clarity and direction he hadn’t experienced in a long time. The warm sunlight on his face seemed to mirror the inner warmth he felt, a combination of hope and determination that was beginning to take root in his heart.
He knew the road ahead wouldn’t be easy, but for the first time in a long while, he felt equipped to face the challenges that lay before him. The pastor’s words echoed in his mind, reminding him of the power of faith and the importance of shifting his perspective. As he walked to his car, Jim found himself reflecting on the profound insights he had gained during their conversation.
Pastor Charles smiled, his eyes twinkling with wisdom and compassion. “Exactly, Jim. Now, let me ask you this: has God ever failed to provide what you need? Not what you wanted, or what you thought you should have, but have you ever not had enough to eat, or have you ever not had enough protection to the point where you died?” The question hung in the air, heavy with significance.
Jim paused, considering the question carefully. His mind raced through the various challenges and hardships he had faced in his life. Despite the difficulties, he realized that he had always managed to survive, to find a way through. “No,” Jim admitted, his voice soft but clear. “God has always given me enough to survive.”
“Exactly,” said Pastor Charles, leaning forward slightly, his voice filled with conviction. “And so you need to recognize the fallacy of what you’ve been believing. The fact is, God has always given you enough, you have enough now, and He will always provide you with enough. The devil has caused you to fear that you would not have enough, and this fear has kept you from getting the blessings God has intended for you. This fear of not enough has blocked money from coming to you, even though you had all the good intentions of using it for good and honorable means.”
Jim nodded slowly, absorbing the pastor’s words. He could see how his fear had been a constant companion, always whispering doubts and worries into his ear. It was a revelation to consider that this very fear might be the thing holding him back from the abundance he sought.
Pastor Charles continued, his voice filled with enthusiasm and purpose. “So here is what you need to do, Jim. This is going to be such an important lesson for you, and when you learn this, you’ll be able to use this strategy to fix all of your other limited beliefs that have been blocking all the blessings of God. You need to decide, make a decision to no longer think about not having enough. You see, a decision is a powerful tool to have. A decision is a belief, and you’ve been making the wrong decision about not having enough or worrying that you won’t have enough. It’s a habit that has persisted for a long time, but that belief is really no more than a decision to believe, and you’ve just allowed yourself to continue making that decision. Does that make sense?”
Jim nodded, his brow furrowed in concentration as he tried to grasp the full implications of what Pastor Charles was saying. The idea that his beliefs were simply decisions he had been making unconsciously was both liberating and slightly overwhelming. It meant that he had the power to change these beliefs, but it also meant taking responsibility for the thoughts and attitudes he had been harboring.
“Let’s do this,” Pastor Charles said, his voice filled with enthusiasm. “How much money would you like to make per month that would be more than enough to cover all your obligations and things you would want to do?”
Jim thought for a moment, considering his current expenses and the lifestyle he aspired to. “I would say $20,000 would do it,” he replied, feeling a mix of hope and disbelief at even suggesting such a figure.
“Okay then, let’s double that and say $40,000,” Pastor Charles said, his voice confident and encouraging. “You need to make a decision that by the end of the year, you’ll be making $40,000 a month. You need to decide right now that that is going to happen.”
Jim’s eyes widened at the suggestion. The figure seemed astronomical compared to his current income. “Wow, that would be nice,” he said, a mixture of excitement and doubt in his voice. “I’m not sure how I can do it, but I like the idea.”
Pastor Charles leaned forward, his gaze intense and focused. “You have to understand it’s not important to come up with a plan for how, all you need to do is decide and make a commitment that is what is going to happen. You just believe it and God will show you how and you will then have the motivation and you’ll get the ideas, and everything will simply fall into place, but it all starts with making the decision now and deciding this is what is going to happen and then just relax and go about your business and watch what happens.”
Jim felt a surge of excitement mixed with a touch of skepticism. The idea of simply deciding and believing seemed almost too simple, yet there was something powerful in the pastor’s words that resonated with him.
“So Jim,” Pastor Charles continued, his voice steady and encouraging, “repeat this after me: I’m making a decision and I’ve decided that I’ve always had enough money, and I have enough money now, and I will always have enough and I’ve made a decision that by the end of the year my monthly income will be $40,000 a month.”
Jim took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment. He repeated the words slowly, trying to infuse them with as much belief and conviction as he could muster. As he spoke, he felt something shift inside him, as if a door had been unlocked, opening up new possibilities.
In the days that followed, Jim continued to state his decisions to change his limited beliefs and stand on what he had decided to do and learn and grow, applying the principles of faith and wisdom to every aspect of his life. And as he did, he began to see the first signs of triumph emerging from his struggles.
At first, the changes were subtle. Jim noticed that he was approaching his work with more confidence and enthusiasm. He found himself more open to new opportunities, seeing potential where he once saw only obstacles. His relationships began to improve as he approached interactions with a more positive and abundant mindset.
As the weeks passed, Jim started to notice more tangible changes. Opportunities seemed to present themselves more frequently. A colleague introduced him to a new business venture that aligned perfectly with his skills and interests. He found himself being offered more responsibilities at work, which came with the potential for increased compensation.
Jim also noticed changes in his personal life. His relationship with his family deepened as he approached each day with gratitude and a sense of abundance. He found himself more willing to give, both of his time and resources, trusting that there would always be enough.
There were still challenges, of course. Old habits of thought didn’t disappear overnight, and Jim sometimes caught himself slipping back into patterns of scarcity thinking. But each time this happened, he remembered Pastor Charles’ words and consciously chose to reaffirm his decision for abundance.
As the months went by, Jim’s financial situation began to improve. While he hadn’t yet reached the $40,000 per month goal, he was making steady progress. More importantly, he found that his relationship with money had fundamentally changed. Instead of being a source of constant worry and stress, money had become a tool that he could use to create value and bless others.
Life’s journey is often filled with unexpected turns and challenges, but it is these very experiences that shape us into who we are meant to be. For Jim, the journey of faith and fortune was just beginning, and with the support of Pastor Charles, he was ready to embrace the path that lay ahead. The café might have been just another Starbucks for many, but for Jim, it was the setting of a pivotal moment—a place where faith, wisdom, and personal growth converged, setting the stage for a brighter, more fulfilling future.
As Jim reflected on the conversation with Pastor Charles, he realized that the true transformation wasn’t just about money. It was about a fundamental shift in how he viewed the world and his place in it. He had moved from a mindset of scarcity and fear to one of abundance and faith.
This new perspective affected every aspect of his life. He found himself more patient with his children, more loving towards his wife, and more compassionate towards his colleagues and neighbors. He began to see opportunities to serve and give back to his community, realizing that true wealth wasn’t just about accumulating money, but about creating value and making a positive impact on the world around him.
Jim also discovered that this new mindset gave him a sense of peace and contentment that he had never experienced before. Even when faced with challenges or setbacks, he was able to maintain a sense of calm and trust, knowing that he had enough and that God would provide.
As the year progressed, Jim continued to work diligently, applying the principles he had learned from Pastor Charles. He focused on using his talents and skills to create value, always looking for ways to serve others and contribute to his community. He remained open to new opportunities, trusting that God would guide him in the right direction.
To his amazement, Jim found that as he focused less on the money itself and more on creating value and serving others, financial opportunities seemed to naturally flow his way. By the end of the year, while he hadn’t quite reached the $40,000 per month goal, he had more than doubled his income and was well on his way to achieving financial abundance.
But more than the financial gains, Jim valued the personal growth he had experienced.
